Expert guidance in study skills, mathematics and statistics

The Centre for Academic Development tutors offers tutorials on study skills, mathematics and statistics for Oxford Brookes University students at all levels from foundation to PhD. 

For example, we can help you to develop skills in planning and structuring your assignments, developing your academic voice, referencing, time management, reflective writing, interpreting assignment briefs, writing literature reviews, refreshing your numeracy skills, understanding mathematical concepts, dissertation data analysis  and much more.

We do not offer proofreading, but we can help you to develop the ability to be critical of your own work and improve your writing. Similarly we won’t do your maths and stats for you, but we will help you to develop the skills and confidence to succeed.

How to book an appointment

Appointments last up to 40 minutes and should be pre-booked by email or phone.

Let us know whether you would like an appointment in study skills, mathematics or statistics, and whether you would prefer your appointment to be online (via Zoom) or face-to-face.

Headington Campus appointment availability

Zoom appointments are usually available from Monday to Friday but we are currently operating a reduced summer service and will be closed 6-12 August and 15-27 August.

Our maths and stats tutors are out of office from 28 July to 26 August.

Face to face appointments take place in the welcome area on the ground floor of the Buckley Building, Headington Campus.

Swindon Campus appointment availability

There are no sessions currently scheduled at Swindon over the summer period.
