Frequently asked questions

Who can apply through Clearing?
You can apply through Clearing if you already have your results and are not holding any university offers.

Do I need to wait until August to apply through Clearing?
If you already have your results then you can apply once Clearing opens on 5 July. Otherwise, you’ll need to wait until you get your results to make your application

What should I have ready for Clearing?
If your exams have been awarded by AQA, OCR, Pearson, SQA, WJEC/CBAC, City & Guilds, CEA or NCFE then it is likely we will be able to view your results when you refer your application. If needed, we’ll contact you to provide evidence of your qualifications and explain any next steps.

Can I still get student finance if I apply through Clearing?
Yes, you can still apply for student finance for tuition fees and living costs. Once you have your Clearing offer, you can apply or update an existing application through the government website.

I have been made an offer in Clearing, when will I hear more?
If you’re calling us on our Clearing hotline, we will verbally confirm your offer during the call. We will send you an email, usually within just a few hours, or by the morning following the offer, this will give instructions as to any actions you need to undertake.

How long will I have to accept my offer?
You’ll usually need to reply to the offer within 48 hours of it being issued. This is stated within your offer letter when you receive it.

Will I be able to get accommodation?
If you’re joining us through Clearing, we will have places in University accommodation available. Once you have a Clearing offer, you don’t need to do anything. You’ll be sent accommodation login details within 48 hours of accepting your course offer, then you will need to apply and select 3 choices. You need to apply for your accommodation by 20 August and will receive confirmation on 22 August.

Our Accommodation team works hard to respond to enquiries within 48 hours wherever possible. In the meantime, if you’d like to speak to a member of our team, you can call us on +44(0)1865 521094 or use the accommodation live chat once you’re on the accommodation portal.

Can I apply through Clearing as an international student?
Yes! Our main application cycle is still open until Thursday 31 July and you can continue to apply for our available undergraduate courses as normal. If you’d prefer to receive a Clearing offer to fast-track you through the process, you can submit your details through our form and the team will be in touch. Once you receive an offer you will receive information on your next steps.

You will need to pay your £3,000 deposit and accept your offer to confirm your place. If you receive an offer and pay your deposit by Thursday 31 July, you will receive our £2,000 International Student Scholarship.
